I’ve walked in your shoes, I know what it’s like to be a quota-carrying sales rep, and later, a sales leader. I sympathise with you.
But after 25 years in corporate sales and marketing positions in multinational corporations and in small/medium businesses I had enough of the politics and BS that goes on in there.
But most of all, I hated the way we were told we had to sell to our customers.
It was all about our products and services, our sales processes, our pipeline, and our sales targets. The customer was almost an afterthought, Buyers were viewed as the obstacle that stood between us and our sales quotas.
I hated it. And I quit.
I wanted to put the Buyer back where they belong in Sales: Into the centre.
But how? There was no recipe, no method. Just an idea.
So I founded Peter Strohkorb Sales Advisory and initially developed Permission-Based Selling, which proposed the idea that no Buyer wants to be sold to until they’d given their permission. Later, this evolved into The Buyer-Focused Selling and The Buyer-Focused Sales Funnel with its ten specialist competencies that I now teach my clients.
